World War II was one of the major global wars fought in history. A war that costed millions their lives. It lasted from September 1, 1939, to September 2, 1945. The war was fought between the major superpowers of the world and their alliances -- the Axis and the Allied powers. The war had a devastating affect on several countries due to the fact that all the industrial, economic and scientific efforts were put into it. It costed numerous people their lives (i.e. mass murder/genocide and the Holocaust -- killing over 11 million people). World War II is also commonly known as the deadliest conflict in the history of humanity. Europe was experiencing massive agricultural and economic crises due to the collateral damage caused by the battles. Recovering from the war has been a long, tedious and assiduous task.
